VAC-L-Travis AFB 75th-0209-005

An historical image of the main gate at what is now known as Travis Air Force Base. The base is celebrating its 75th year as military installation, First as Fairfield-Suisun Army Air Base in 1943 till it was renamed Travis Air Force Base in 1951 for Brigadier General Robert F. Travis, who was killed when a B-29 Superfortress crashed shortly after takeoff in August of 1950.
